The YCL team is already in Paris to get everything ready for the #YCL2018Immersion, which is starting this Friday! We are so excited to start a 40-day journey with a such a special group of young people from all over the world keen to learn more about climate change and to experience how different communities are dealing with it. Our crew will be together for 10 days in Paris, visiting several organizations tackling climate change in the global to local levels. They will also hear firsthand new research developments from distinguished Professors and practitioners. You can also meet us to get a sneak peak of YCL inaugural immersion and meet our team - please confirm your presence here and help us spread the word among your network! Later, we will spend a whole month in Kenya visiting different organizations in Nairobi and Meru. You can also meet our group there at our Welcome Seminar in Nairobi (please confirm your presence here).
We received 500 applications from 95 countries for our first cohort, an amazing turn out that reflects the huge demand young people have for training and professional opportunities in the field of climate change. We have selected 27 participants, most of which come from developing countries. Due to financial constraints though, we are able to bring only 16 of them coming from 5 continents, this time. The group has a big challenge ahead: develop a project to help to improve Ruiri’s community, in the Meru county, combining challenges and opportunities on education, sustainable agriculture and climate change adaptation/mitigation. Our new #YCLNetwork members are very motivated, inspiring and interested in addressing climate change, and we are sure they surprise us all with wonderful ideas and stories. Please take few minutes to get to know them better below, and follow us all on social media to get live updates about the #YCL2018Immersion.
