A once in a lifetime opportunity for you to take action and boost your career in the field of climate change

YCL believes that the best way to understand a complex problem like climate change is to experience its real implications in different contexts. On YCL international immersions you will learn about climate change in theory, understand it in practice and work on hands-on projects with other young people. Our main goal is to empower a diverse group of young leaders from all over the world with leadership and entrepreneurial skills to be used right now to address climate change. With this unique approach, we thus transform a daunting challenge as the climate crisis into an opportunity to include millions of young people through the new climate economy.

IMMERSION ACTIVITIES

BASE-IMGS.png

Our main innovation is in our approach to equip young climate leaders through a complete program combining hands-on learning, cultural exchanges, mentoring, and access to a global network and professional development opportunities (during and after the program). YCL Immersions have 5 main components:

Multicultural Learning

One of the most important skills for those wanting to start their careers in the field of climate change is being able to work in multicultural teams. Work and live with people from all over the world to get out of your comfort zone while exploring a different environment.  We will also ensure that you meet locals and take part on cultural  exchanges, promoting active learning throughout  the whole expedition.

Professional Development

Participants will join the program to learn more about climate change, but also to get professional experience in the field. Therefore, you will have the opportunity of working with local organizations on concrete challenges. If you prefer, you can also choose to develop your own project or research, having individual assistance tailored to your needs. You can choose between 2 treks: Intrapreneur OR Entrepreneur/Researcher. (See More)

Academic Curriculum

Before departure, we will share a comprehensive list of readings and other resources about climate change and sustainable cities. During the immersion, you will attend lectures about climate science, international cooperation, climate finance, among other topics. We will also leverage our partnership with leading academic institutions, such as Columbia University, as well as with local universities and research  organizations to enrich your experience.

Life and Career Mentorship:

The program includes individual and collective coaching to help you to discover more about yourself and how to put your knowledge in service of others. At the same time, you will work with facilitators to set up your life and career goals, leaving the immersion with a clear action plan. The YCL team will also connect you with key organizations and contacts, following up your professional development over time.

Visits and Cultural Activities

The immersion's day-to-day will consist of several learning expeditions to universities, companies, UN agencies, local organizations, NGOs, among others. The program will offer a series of touristic trips and cultural experiences (some of which will be already included in the fee) too. Our goal is to create a cultural exchange which promotes active

learning throughout the whole expedition.

Participants can choose between 2 Treks:

Intrapreneur

Participants who choose this trek will work part-time on a group project assigned by a partner organization, having the chance of experiencing real-life challenges that organizations face while implementing climate change projects.

Entrepreneur/Researcher

Participants who choose this trek will bring their own project or research and develop it with the support of the YCL team, their colleagues and local experts. With our guidance, they will be invited to learn more about themselves during the process.
